My daughter, Danielle, asked
me to design a quilt for her inspired by her favorite artists, Frank Lloyd
Wright and Piet Mondrian. This quilt is an
answer to her request. The blocks are a combination of hand appliquéd and
machine sewn. They were made over a span of 4 years and it took another year to
assemble and complete. It was long arm quilted by Wilma Cogliantry
of Christian Lane Quilters.

A Tribute to Spring and it's Chartreuse Burst!
While driving upstate throughout the Spring Season, I love to watch the procession of the changing colors of Spring. I think of it as the Chartreuse Burst. This quilt I designed is a tribute to Spring. It has taken me 4 years from start to finish. it was long arm quilted by Lynn Kelly of East Coast Quilters.

Baby quilts pieced and quilted by me.
I used these simple patchwork baby quilt designs to practice free motion quilting. A new skill I am attempting to learn.

Quilts finished this Spring
This One Block Wonder Encore was started in early Dec 09 at a class in Woodstock, NY. My friend Neida encouraged me to take the class with her. This is the result of the class. I found it fun to make and easy to sew together since it is all straight lines.
I'm pleased with the finished results of the baby star quilt and pillow. Three have been mailed off and number 4 and 5 are waiting for new babies. How nice to have a surplus! If I were to make this quilt again, I'd make the star on the quilt bigger, but keep the pillow as is.

Quilts in progress
Like most artists I am most enthusiastic about the projects I have in progress.
In the last few years I have noticed the beauty of the "Chartreuse Burst" of Spring. I wanted to design a quilt to capture this amazing sight. This quilt will be made of two repeats of twelve star block designs. Borders and slashing to be determined...
My daughter's favorite Artist is Piet Mondrian. This quilt inspired by his work will have 5", 11", and 17" squares. They will have 1" slashing in black and a black border. A few 5" and 11" blocks are displayed here.
I'm constantly in need of baby quilts. Three are needed this Spring! I came up with this design so five baby quilts and matching pillows could be cut out at one time. I spread 2 yards of 5 coordinating fabrics face up one on top of the other, then laid the pattern on top and cut out 5 at once. The five fabric rays will rotate once around for each quilt. These will be backed with Minkee, machine quilted and bordered with gold 1 1/4" charmeuse satin.
