Quilts in progress

Like most artists I am most enthusiastic about the projects I have in progress.

In the last few years I have noticed the beauty of the "Chartreuse Burst" of Spring. I wanted to design a quilt to capture this amazing sight. This quilt will be made of two repeats of twelve star block designs. Borders and slashing to be determined...

My daughter's favorite Artist is Piet Mondrian. This quilt inspired by his work will have 5", 11", and 17" squares. They will have 1" slashing in black and a black border. A few 5" and 11" blocks are displayed here.

I'm constantly in need of baby quilts. Three are needed this Spring! I came up with this design so five baby quilts and matching pillows could be cut out at one time. I spread 2 yards of 5 coordinating fabrics face up one on top of the other, then laid the pattern on top and cut out 5 at once. The five fabric rays will rotate once around for each quilt. These will be backed with Minkee, machine quilted and bordered with gold 1 1/4" charmeuse satin.

Quilts

Wool Quilts
The wools in these next quilts were taken off of sample cards. The samples came in 3" x 6" and 6" square. I added embroidered ultra suede squares and rectangles to accent the ruggedness of the wool swatches.

Queen Size Quilts
My first queen sized quilt was designed to capture the wonderful changing colors of Fall. Pillow shams and valances were added to complete the fall feeling in the room.

Baby Quilts
These are a few I have designed...

Banners

Felt Banners
My journey into quilt making started with banner designs for churches throughout the borough of Queens, New York. I would plan the designs, make the patterns, purchase the fabrics and then lead banner making workshops with volunteers from the congregation.

Poplin Banners

These banners were made to be reversible, Christmas themed on one side and Pentecostal themed on the other.

Advent banners designed for a church with an asymetrical interior.
Silk Banner
This banner is eight foot square. The fabric was Dupioni silk which gave a lovely sheen to the finished banner.
